Dear Friends,

At such a time as this, what could be better than to bring our voices together in song? And yet, we must wait. Village Fire, along with countless other gatherings that hold people together across time and space, will not take place this year.

It's all so hard to comprehend, isn’t it? Vast is this tapestry of life that is disintegrating, and small are the parts that each of us can see and tend right now. The reweaving is hard to imagine today, but we will find the threads and do it. We will.

How are you doing? What threads of connection and compassion are you holding, preserving, preparing? Are you finding balance between online life and outside life? Have you noticed the birds arriving from their winter travels, the spring flowers sending up their shoots? Even without a gathering this June, the creation called Village Fire that called us together in 2013 to sing, play, learn and cry is still alive, pulsing with our longing, feeling our care. Thank goodness for our memories, our learnings, our songs that hold us and help us.

In Gratitude,

Liz Rog and Ida Rotto

There are songs in the soil and the rivers and trees

and the ears of your heart can hear them.

And some come alive in the meeting of eyes

when you take the time to see them.

I will listen to the deeper story;

I will see how Life's gonna move in me

Can you imagine the sound of your voice surrounded by hundreds of others? Do you love to be outside among plants, trees, animals, water, and sky? Do you know the pleasure of gathering with people of all ages, each bringing their gifts and passions to share?

Come join the old and returning community movement that knits the world together through songs of love, grief, celebration and spirit. Come sing with us as a meaningful and empowering collective response in this time of global crisis, a doorway to strength, vulnerability, inspiration and courage for the work of these times. Come nestle into a beautiful setting amongst the ancient bluffs of the Driftless, where we eat real food made with soul, sit around the nighttime fire, and a living river winds through it all.

At camp there is spaciousness of time. Time for walking around in the woods. Time to play games and run. Time to meet new friends and really listen. Time to sit around the campfire. Time to move. Time to tell stories and jokes. Time to eat slow meals. Time to relax and rejuvenate. Time to lean into the world.
