How We Share in Paying for Our Space and Food


We offer a sliding scale payment system, asking that each contribute as they are able. In the five years of Village Fire we have been able to pay the bills in this collective fashion. Let's do it again!


The choices below can be a little confusing. Why do we do it this way? It's because our camp can only flourish when all ages and stages are present. We don't want money to stand in the way of anyone's coming, and we know that there are some with more money to share, who are willing to help balance things out and support the gathering to thrive. Thank you for taking the time to figure out what part in this picture you play, for all parts are treasured at Village Fire.

  • Adults: $125 - $400
  • Teens and Young Adults (age 13 - 25): $75 - $225
  • Kids 12 and under: $50 - $100
  • Babies not eating camp food: free

Waiting List 2018

Part-time Registration will open April 2


From March 10 - 31, registration is open for those who can be with us for the whole time, that is, at least 10 of the 12 meal times. That would mean missing one meal on each end of camp, or 2 meals on one end. If you bring your own food for dietary reasons and you'll be at camp for at least 10 meal times, you still count as full-time! If you're simply not a breakfast eater but you'll be in the area, we still consider you full-time!


This year we are again saving up to 50 spots for those who can only be with us part of the time. If you would like to join us for fewer than 10 meal times, please take a moment now to fill out this simple form to let us know when you would like to be at camp. We will review your information and balance registrations so that we still have no more than 300 persons at camp at a time. We will begin sending special registration links on April 2.


Why the distinction between full-time and part-time campers?

We have noticed that when more people stay the whole time, we have more of a chance to build a beautiful community that can reverberate through the coming months and years. Given our limited amount of space, we want to offer camp first to those who can come the whole time. We've noticed that many gatherings such as ours do not offer partial registration and we understand why, yet we want to give wiggle room for the realities of life. This is the last year we plan to offer part-time registration; starting in 2019 all campers will be full-time.


Why count by meals?

Meals together are our touchstone, our breathing time. We value that time together. And, we pay per plate for the high-quality meals that Ruthie prepares for us. We need to have an accurate count so that we can pay for the meals fairly.

With meals

  • Adults: $30 - $60 / day
  • Teens (13 - 19): $20 - $40 / day
  • Kids 12 and under: $10 - $20 / day


Bringing your own lunch and supper

(you are welcome to join us for breakfast)

  • Adults: $10 - $30 / day
  • Teens (13 - 19): $10 - $20 / day
  • Kids 12 and under: free

How to confirm your spot at camp


There is room for 300 of us to make our community at Village Fire. In order to honor the hopes and wishes of the people on our waiting list, we will be watching for your registration fee by a certain date (see below). Your payment sends us the message that you really are joining us. If we don't receive your payment or plan by the date below, we will offer your spot to someone on the waiting list.


  • If you register March 10 - 20, send your payment in time for us to receive it by March 30.
  • Register April 2 - April 20, payment received by April 30.
  • Register April 21 - May 10, payment received by May 18.
  • Register May 11 - June 1, payment received by June 6.


If you simply don't have the funds right away, please reach out to Stephanie (VillageFireSinging at gmail dot com) with your installment timeline.




Cancellation Policy


Village Fire has certain fixed costs, even if it turns out that you are not able to join us. To remain sustainable, this is our refund policy:

  • Until May 18 when we give our final food numbers to our cook, you may have a half refund.
  • After May 18 we can refund up to half of your payment, as long as we retain at least $100 per person to cover the cost of the food that we will have on hand for you.
  • This cancellation fee applies even if someone from the waiting list is able to fill your spot. Please honor the people on the official waiting list by not substituting someone else in your place.
