How We Share in Paying for Our Space and Food


We offer a sliding scale payment system, asking that each contribute as they are able. In the seven years of Village Fire we have been able to pay our bills in this collective fashion. Let's do it again!


The choices below can be a little confusing. Why do we do it this way? It's because our camp can only flourish when all ages and stages are present. We don't want money to stand in the way of anyone's coming, and we know that there are some with more money to share, who are willing to help balance things out for the whole. Thank you for taking the time to figure out what part in this picture you play, for all parts are treasured at Village Fire.


We will share 15 meals together, from Monday supper through Saturday lunch. Those who can join us for at least 12 of those meal times (whether or not you have a personal need to bring your own food) are considered full-time campers. Those whose schedule only allows them to join in the community for less than 12 of the meal times will register as part-time and use the daily payment scale below. We've designated 50 spots for part-time campers, and registration is open to everyone on the same day this year!


Why count by meals? Meals together are our touchstone, our breathing time. We value that time together. And, we pay per plate for the high-quality meals that Ruthie prepares for us. We need to have an accurate count so that we can plan and pay for the meals fairly.

These prices are for full-time campers (those who will be at camp at least 12 of the 15 meal times).

  • Adult: $225 - $700
  • Teen or Young Adult (age 13 - 25): $125 - $325
  • Child 12 and under: $70 - $140
  • Baby not eating camp food: free

By-the-Day Pricing Scale

(for those who can join us for less than 12 mealtimes)


With meals

  • Adult: $50 - $100 / day
  • Teen or Young Adult (13 - 25): $30 - $75 / day
  • Child 12 and under: $15 - $30 / day
  • Baby not eating camp food: free


Bringing your own lunch and supper

(you are welcome to join us for breakfast)

  • Adult: $15 - $35 / day
  • Teen or Young Adult (13 - 25): $10 - $20 / day
  • Child 12 and under: free


The spots we saved for part-time campers are running low. If the registration form (linked above) says that we've run out by the time you get there, please add yourself to the waiting list. It's worth it!




How to confirm your spot at camp


There is space for 330 of us to make our community at Village Fire. Past experience suggests that we will fill these spots and have a waiting list, and in order to honor the hopes and wishes of the people on that list, we will be watching for your registration fee by a certain date (see below). Your payment sends us the message that you really are joining us. If we don't receive your payment or plan by the date below, we will offer your spot to someone on the waiting list.


  • If you register March 12 - 31, send your payment in time for us to receive it by April 7.
  • Register April 1 - 30, payment received by May 5.
  • Register May 1 - 30, payment received by June 2.
  • Register after May 30: pay online or bring cash/check to your first day of camp


If you simply don't have all of the funds right away, please reach out to Stephanie (VillageFireSinging at gmail dot com) with your proposed installment timeline.


After completing the registration form, you will receive a confirmation email that contains the address for mailing checks, if that is your chosen payment method. Please do not send payment until you have completed the detailed registration form.




Cancellations and Refunds


Village Fire has certain fixed costs, even if it turns out that you are not able to join us. To remain sustainable, this is our refund policy:

  • Until May 5, we will return all but $50 to you. If you haven't yet paid, please send that $50 to Stephanie, our registrar.
  • May 6 - 31, we need to retain $125 per full-time adult. If you need a refund for a younger person or for a part-time registration, check in with Stephanie.
  • On and after June 1, no refunds are available.
  • This cancellation fee applies even if someone from the waiting list is able to fill your spot. Please honor the people on the waiting list by not substituting someone else in your place. Pre-registration is required; there is no walk-in registration available.
